How to close the gap
The financial disparity among races in America correlates almost directly with the computer literacy skills. Due to lack of equal opportunity, many minorities are being left behind socially as well as economically. So the question is, how do we close the gap that exists between the white majority and the non-white minorities in terms of education and available resources. In an article by Gary Beach, various solutions to increase computer literacy across America are discussed. One way is for major companies to give back to the community. One example the article cites is AT&T CEO, Randall Stephenson, founding the AT&T Aspire Foundation in order to provide education grants to high school seniors to increase computer mastery as well as promote the passing along of information.
Another way to close the gap is to reform education as it stands now. One potential reform that would benefit the underprivileged academic communities would be the equal distribution of educational tax dollars among all schools in the state. This would allow for all public schools to have access to the same facilities and resources. The current students are our future as a country and their education should be our number one priority. Race should have no influence on the capabilities of a human being, so every student should be given an equal opportunity.
